In the middle of October, delegates from countries of the region were meeting in Seychelles in order to draw up a plan of action against piracy as well as to strengthen ties with international bodies.

A 5-day seminar held at the Seychelles Trading Company’s conference room has attracted over 70 representatives from Madagascar, Maldives, Yemen, Comoros, Djibouti, Ethiopia, and Kenya. Also, the seminar was attended by international speakers and observers from the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) and Interpol.

The meeting aimed at drawing up a draft action plan in order to implement the Djibouti Code of Conduct, an anti-piracy agreement signed on January 29, 2009 by 10 regional countries.
